Know it all

After a lunch date with my Grandma last week she set up a date for her and I to go visit Jean McCormick a woman that grandma says can tell me more than I would ever want to know about growing up in Sparlingville. Turns out Jean is a pretty awsome lady. She even mentioned how she was infatuated with one of the neighbor boys 90 years ago. " I had a case for Wilber, "she said with a snicker, " oh and he had a case for me, but he ended up with another girl and boy was she pretty." Grandma says we are related to Jean "Kissin' cousins," She calls it. Jean will turn 105 November 13. The photo on the table is her when she was a young girl. God bless her.

Got Mail

On the way back from an assignment I found these mail boxes just sitting there waiting to be photographed. I like a lot of repeating shapes. One of the images might hang nicely in the house.

Bologna

That's what this one was all about. The People in Yale they are crazy about it. I got sent out on the last day of the festival to cover the duck race and the carboard boat race. I'm thankful that this dude got out his leaf blower or I would have been there forever. There were two little girls that wanted to go swimming in the river more than actually race their boats but to be fair their aunt taped together a couple of boxes and they had a blast that is until the boat sank.

Car wash

They were raising money for a new church parking lot. I managed to stay dry.

Garth

was at the Sanilac County fair today at the petting zoo. The atendent said that he can only be out for a couple hours at a time because he gets nippy. I'm going to get this one framed and hang it in my house some place. Maybe the bathroom, he can look back at you while you are doing your business...
These kids were at the rabbit fun show at the St. Clair County 4-H and Youth Fair Thursday afternoon. I've had just about enough kids and animals for one week.

Big mess

For the second time in six months a Canadian trash truck has seen the need to tip its load in the middle of the interestate. at least this time it was only construction waste, a lot less stinky than the household garbage a few months back.

Fair

There is nothing like it. Growing up it was alway the best week of my summer. I spent part of the morning at the St. Clair County 4-H and Youth fair making a few photos and talking with people I haven't seen in a while. Here are a few that I liked.

Old Lincoln School

I looked at my assignments this morning and found this gem in the box. I was going to cover the dedication of "the old Lincoln School". It wasn't as bad as I thought. Older folk's clothes make me chuckle. At the same time I can't help but wonder about the places they have been and the things they have done. Their minds are so full of history and incite. I like old people.

Boat race

This week was boat week which ment long hours behind my camera and video camera. Out of all the hundreds of images I took in the last three days the first is my favorite. Just the street light with people walking along the Black River at dusk. Lots and lots of people liked walking by the river to look at the boats Friday. Saturday was rough. I spent the better part of the day on a powerboat bobbing in six-foot swells trying to make pictures between leaning over the side of the boat. I'll have some good ones next week, it's time for the fair.

"Oh what a feeling"

John wrote our names on our new front porch today when I couldn't get there to do it myself. He winks at me a lot. I like it.

Highlight

It is sad to think that this very cupcake has been the highlight of my day so far... Molly spet 50 cents at the Music festival on it. I'm ready to go home. See you all tomorrow.

"No worries"

They all shouted before letting go of lime green balloons, his favorite color, for Mike McNash. Mike died a year ago in a feak boating accident, he was and still is loved by his family and friends.

Cruise night

John has been looking since spring for just the right Mustang, yesterday he found it. I can't wait to go for a ride. Classics and customs filled the main drag last night on their way to the north end of town to park and show off a bit of chrome.

Family vacation with chocolate milk

Any other beverage just wouldn't do for Andrew while on vacation from Atlanta with his family. The crew asked me to take a photo of them for their scrap book. After I handed back their point and shoot Andrew took a good long drag of the brown cow juice.

Clouds

The house is coming along fast. It was nice to spend some time with John out there tonight. The second photo is a view of my new backyard from the kitchen, I'm thilled with the big windows. There were some nice clouds overhead tonight. The sand pile looked like a moutain peak.

Wet feet

is what I had after catching this frame at the park today. It was another hot one out there. I'm glad to be off for the weekend.

Hunter

I had some time to kill before the the championship softball game tonight so I embarked on one of my favorite pastimes, people watching. This is Cameron he was squirrel hunting as if these little critters were ment to be dinner. Unfortunately for Cameron the little guys could out smart him.

The Sunday after the 4th of July

Has always been as long as I have been around our family reunion in Marysville Park. This one marks the 44th. It's not the biggest I can remember but it's not as small as the one two years ago when only about a dozen people showed up. I will admit I dont know the names of everyone there but food is always good and my grandparents have never missed it. I love them alot.

7-7-07

It's lucky, well that's what most tend to believe. If that's the case, than Jordan, 7 should buy a lottery ticket. He turned seven today. "It's God's day," he said before sneaking another finger full of icing from his birthday cake.

Sea sick

I went out on George's boat tonight to photograph the Lake Huron International Regatta. Its the big race before all the local guys head to Mackinac in a couple of weeks. Did I mention my stomach doesn't favor boats. The swells made it a little rough for photos but at least the light was nice. One of the sailboats got a little to close and caught our line which caused a slight delay and more ups and downs for my stomach. I'm happy to be back on land.

Rooten' tooten' good time

My mom married a cowboy yesterday at his farm in Jeddo. It's good to see her happy again. Then there were fireworks.

Focus

I was lucky enough to get to cover Blue Water Brass an annual drum and bugle corps compeition at my old high school. It reminded me of the old marching band days. It still gives me goose bumps.

In a van down by the river

Well sort of. I met Todd and his hemp shoes camping out along the St. Clair River Sunday afternoon. He lives just up the road but brings his recliner down in his VW Bus to enjoy the sights. "There isn't a day that goes by where people don't stop and ask me questions," he said as he flashed me a peace sign.
