Sew

John bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and today was the first time I made something all by myself. We have a couple of little girls that live up the road and I made them some treat sacks for Halloween. I also went out and got some crayons and other fun things to get them started. I'm a little excited about the whole thing.

Dick

"I Love it,' he said about the planes on display at the county airport sunday. The day offered free airplane rides to kids but given a chance he would have taken to the clouds.

Beast

Donelle plays for Peck, a little class D school out in the middle of nowhere. This kid shook the other team off him like flies.

Almont

I am now in my third season of covering high school football and tonight was the first time I shot a game at Almont High School. It was dark.

Miss Michigan USA

I shot the Miss Michigan USA pageant last night. They all had I love Port Huron flair to keep their sashes pinned. Instead of posting the winner here's a shot as 2008 loses her reign

Behind

I still don't know the outcome of Marine City's game tonight against Clawson but based on the first half it doesn't look like they will be making a trip to Ford Field

Apples

I spent part of the day hunting down people to photograph while they picked apples. This little girl would pluck one from the tree, look it over and then thump it into the bag her grandmother held for her.

Dinner?

I spent $88 on groceries Saturday and I couldn't settle on a thing to make for dinner. Finally I grabbed some shells and cheese canned peaches and cut up a cucumber. It ain't fancy but it's pretty darn tasty.

Winter pines

I was looking through some old stuff tonight when I uncovered the pines from a winter break trip to Northern Michigan. It was only a couple days with good friends but it sure was good times.

Three wicks

I have been looking for a couple days now for a nice candle for the coffee table. I found it tonight at target. It's still wet outside but it's warm and cozy in our living room.

Umbrellas

I can't say that this is the best photo I made tonight but the Big Reds did step over the Huskies. My favorite part about this image is the people behind the jubilation. I'm a sucker for umbrellas.

Patriot

Like many photographers I picked up a 9/11 assignment today. I shot the flags and the prayers but of the photos today this one stands out. I didn't even get this little guys name but when I look back it doesn't really matter.

Back home

Katie Cullen gave us the plaque for our wedding. When we came home tonight it was finally hanging by the driveway. I snapped the cell tower sunset on the way to the chicken coop.

Over night with Kathy

John and I drove to Fort Wayne to visit Kathy overnight. Lee cooked burgers on he grill as Kathy and Anica chat. Brett likes burgers. I wish we lived closer.

Wet

You can't tell it from this photo but it rained most of the day. The drops didn't seem to bother these guys. I'll admit that I prefer to make pictures when I don't have to hide under my rain jacket.

Colorful ride

I shot a bicycle tour this morning in the drizzle. While I was driving a route with sparse riders and came upon some field corn that had started to turn. A few riders came though and I had my photo. It's only the first part of September but everywhere I look I see evidence of a fast approaching fall.

Like carpet

If you ask anyone who lives in Marysville they will tell you that Walt Braun Viking Stadium is the stadium of all stadiums and the Vikings are the best football team in the state despite what their stats may read. I got the Marysville game tonight, and the big lens. They are now one of two local stadiums to have artificial turf or, as I like to call it "fake dirt." It's like walking on carpet. Oh so nice... Their mascot was there cheer on the team. We have a good relationship, he gives me candy. Tonight he was whooping it up with the cheerleaders. Marysville's stats got the best of them, Marine City won. Better luck next time. At least my feet are feeling chipper.

Last of the season

I walked the midway at Richmond Good Old Days this afternoon, here are a few I made for myself. It feels good.

Dancing meadow

The wind woke me up this morning and when I looked out the Queen Ann's Lace was waltzing.

Soccer comes to Yale

I'm going to make a conscious effort to update this thing daily. I don't know how good I'm going to be at it but I have to give it a shot. I photographed soccer practice for the newly formed Yale soccer club. If nothing else they have heart. The play their second game of the season tomorrow.

Night creature

It rained a nice rain tonight,a steady rain, we need it. This guy was out taking a stroll as I put my chickens to bed. I used a flashlight for his close up. When I was growing up Leslie and I used to have this place near the crawl space of our house where the toads would fall into and couldn't get out. We called it the toad hole. We played with those toads like little girls play with Barbie. Just for the record toads don't give you warts. I'm living proof.
