Dad turns 50

We've had a lot of birthdays in August. My dad turns the big 50 on Friday but because I'll be on the sideline of a football game some place we took time to celebrate tonight. Les made peach pie. We made sure to get black and white candles. No matter how old he'll always be my dad.

Birthday boy

John's birthday was yesterday. I tried my hand at making him meatloaf. He said it was pretty good. I consider this a success given that the man lives for loafed meat. Les made him lava cake, the only cake we would even consider making him after he fell in love with the warm chocolaty wonder discovered my accident at the Golden Corral a little more than a year ago. After a little wine the night was filled with family and well wishes. Just side note: these are quite possibly the best photos I have ever taken of my hubby.

Football starts

The football tab is almost finished. I didn't get to shoot that many teams this year. Thats ok though. Thursday the season kicks off. I'm looking forward to it.

Guitar Hero

Triathlon

I got up early this morning, as in before the sun came up... to photograph the Blue Water Triathlon. More than 300 people came out to swim bike and run intensely for more than an hour and a half. At least the light was nice.

Blueberries

Yvonne and I went to Croswell this morning to pick blueberries from the berry farm. This lady is in her mid 80s and never lets life get the best of her. I wish I would have taken my camera out into the patch. I grabbed this shot as we were checking out. I spent the afternoon baking with my berries. Keith King I'll bring you some tomorrow.

Mom's birthday

My mom's birthday is tomorrow so tonight my sis and I got together with our guys and Mom and Dick for a little birthday pizza and cake. Dick made the cake it it was super. Yellow cake with pineapple. I helped myself to a second piece. After, the sun set on Tino while Leslie and I watched. The best part, I have the next two days off.

After the ceremony

It was kind of nice to just push the shutter and not have to worry about how I'm going to get everyone's name. I had a great night of doing what I love, making pictures. Here are a few out of the way moments after Oscar and Leslie tied the knot.

Leslie & Oscar

Saturday I photographed a wedding with Jackie Blair. I don't think either of them could hold a strait face if they tried. Despite the rain which lasted only long enough to keep the ceremony indoors I think this couple will will always have a reason to show off their pearly whites.

Bearded lady with a crooked toe

is a hen that keeps to herself most of the time no matter what the rest of the brood is up to. I try to pay her a little extra attention. Don't tell the others but she is my favorite. John sat out on the back stoop tonight while I tried out my Canon 5D. He bought it for me last week but it arrived by FedEx this afternoon. I plan to pay him a little at a time for it. It's one sweet camera. John says that we should call ourselves master gardeners because we can always seem to grow stuff even when we don't try to. The sunflowers popped up after we started feeding the birds, imagine that.
