Mackinac Island
I spent a couple days there with John this week. It was his first time on the island and my second. Cars are not allowed so the locals ride bikes and the folks from out of town get around by walking or hopping on a cart pulled by some of these guys. This team was waiting for visitors outside Fort Mackinac. It was a great couple of days.

Chance
It feels good when everything comes together, real good. I had some extra time before an assignment so I took the long way to Goodells this afternoon. By chance I made my way down a few gravel roads when I spotted this the limbs of these old oaks stretching to cover Card Road. I got out of the car to fire off a few frames when Toby and Popcorn rounded the corner carrying Kristine and her daughter Jessica. Success, it makes the down times worth it.

Under the lights
I watched the sun set from the varsity softball field at Port Huron High tonight. The girls' last game of the season ended on a sour note. The cross-town rival walked away with a 8-2 win. Softball is one of my favorite sports to photograph. I think it's because that's how I spent my summers growing up. There is nothing better than a team full of ladies with heart.

Dance, Dance, Dance
" Come on darling put a pretty dress on,
We're gonna go out tonight... " I had an assignment tonight to make some photos at a barn dance held in "the Thumb". It seemed like the hopping place for 50 or so baby boomers and a few senior citizens with an itching for a little two step. These two ladies came down from Marlette to get in on some of the action.

Hold the salt
The weather is getting warmer. It rained all of yeasterday. I went to visit my grandma this morning. Her sidewalk was home to this little guy. Slugs remind me of my little sister. I can recall on more than one occasion Les bringing peanut butter jars into the the kitchen filled to the lid with slugs. Small nail holes poked in the plastic provided enough air to make the journey from the backyard to the kitchen and back.
"Oh those are nice," my mom woud say as Les held the jar in her out streched arm to provide a better look for my mom.
" Where did you find so many?"
" In my hide out, " She would say with a smile. Her hide out was conventely located space between the chicken coop and the rabbit pens.
"Please take them back outside," mom always said wide eyed with a smile. Most of the time the slugs made it out of the jar and back under their logs. Les, may the slugs always have a place in your peanut butter jar.

Cruising
I came into work early today so I had a little time to drive the streets. It was worth my time for this little slice of life. TOP:The tires creaked on the sidewalk and Brighty the dog watched as Jeremiah Sharrow, 3 inched his way down the sidewalk in front of his Howard Street home in a vintage Jet Flow Drive peddle car. Sharrow worked part of the morning on the pressed metal car with his Papa Louie Oliver to get the pedals working for a test drive. BOTTOM: Tat tat tat sang from the ratchet as Jeremiah Sharrow, 3 used his mighty muscles to fix the loose peddles on his Papa, Louie Oliver's vintage Jet Flow Drive pressed metal fire truck with the help of his older brother Matthew Sharrow, 5. Oliver dug the truck out of his garage Monday morning to fix it up for his grandkids. Oliver found the car three years ago at a garage sale for $35. "I had one when I was a kid," Oliver said with a smile as Jeremiah peddled his way down the side walk in front of his Howard Street home. "I had to have it."
